Health Insurance

Matt Libby Insurance has access to many carriers to assist clients with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and ACA alternative plans.

ACA aka Obamacare – Since the American Rescue Plan Act was passed in 2021 many families are now eligible for the APTC subsidy that were not before because their household income was over the 400% of poverty cap. Contact us today to see if you are eligible.

Short-Term – Short-term plans are traditionally used to bridge the gap between major health plans to protect individuals against catastrophic costs. These plans have been used as alternatives to ACA plans for those that received little to no tax credit for ACA plans. Short Term plans can be purchased for 1-12 month terms.  In some states, it is possible to enroll for 3 consecutive 12-month terms. This enables a person to enroll and only have to go through the health underwriting once for the 3-year period. Short Term plans usually cost much less than an unsubsidized ACA plan because they can turn someone down for pre-existing conditions.

Specified Benefits – These plans will pay a fixed amount for a variety of medical procedures. The plans can cover from doctor visits to a stay in intensive care.  Some plans even come with prescription benefits. These plans are useful for those that have a very high deductible major medical plan. One similarity these plans have with Short Term is they are medically underwritten, so someone could be turned down or have limited benefits because of a pre-existing condition.
